A bit of business

We NEED more Bob!

If you read Creamguide you’ll know that the current re-runs of Bob’s Full House on Challenge have ushered in  – to quote the man himself – “a period of great joy” for us. Alas, that might be about to change.

Thanks, @sherbertavenger. So, prompted by that, we dropped Challenge a line (already this is turning into an episode of That’s Life!). They said:

The next exchange then read…

So that’s the news. On 22nd March, Bob’s Full House moves to Friday nights. Tell all your friends to clickety-click their remotes and tune in to Bob en masse. We don’t want to leave the great man with droopy-draws ratings. And hopefully, if things pick up and they get a ‘lotto’ viewers, Challenge might buy series two…

Rubbish night for the show – it was always a Saturday night show and moving it to Friday is just wrong. Seems strange to say it but Challenge is probably our favourite channel at the moment with its wall to wall retro shows – loved it when recently you could watch “Bob’s Full House” followed by “321” then double “Bullseye” on a Saturday. Now they just seem more intent on showing wrestling.

Why not Friday nights? They move their schedules around like all channels, so you just have to expect them to do that. Besides they have brought what remains of series 1 and 2 of Bullseye to be shown, who else would buy those shows in? We have to be thankful for what we’ve got, plus we got to spread the word on Lord Bob… #NEEDMoreBob

At least they’re giving series one another go, I don’t mind what day they show it as long as it gets enough viewers to prompt Challenge to buy the rest of them. Definite TV highlight recently. If nothing else, it’s worth watching to hear Bob get a really rude joke past the censors every week – there was an audible gasp from the audience when he told the one about babies frowning in the womb “but only if they see a stranger!”

Funnily enough I looked through all the recent top 10s and it never put in an appearance. On some weeks it had a strong lead-in from Strike It Rich, too. Perhaps these were just too old and a little unsure. It was still brilliant that we saw it at all.

We NEEEED to push Challenge into sampling something else of the age, to prove it’s not just the haircuts and jacket & jeans combos. Early 80’s Bruce Forsyth’s PYCR and Name That Tune I’m saying.
