Great St Trinian’s Train Robbery, The

Frankie Howerd takes his turn to look put-upon in charge of the usual ‘tearaways’. Not good, but better than the terrible ones made in the early ’80s with Maureen Lipman. That all-important roll call – Dora Bryan, George Cole, Reg Varney, Terry Scott, Arthur Mullard and Stratford Johns.

A brave attempt to move the franchise into the colour era and a lot funnier than the terrible remake in 1980. Bits I remember most are the train chase and the criminals receiving their orders through a television set. Also the more mature girls in the franchise were often played by models in their twenties.
