John Mills is the music teacher who gets the kids in the orchestra to play that some of the ‘jitterbug’ style modern rhythm-type, ‘hip to the jive’ music that they really enjoy instead of the ‘square’ stuff they usually get. The irony here being of course that dear old Johnny Mills is just about as stiff as it’s possible to get whilst still being able to move about.
