It was a Tyne Tees production and everytime there was a technical breakdown (which happened a lot in the 70s and early 80s) the duty continuity announcer would either stick the Paperlads theme on the record deck or Acker Bilk’s Stranger on the Shore.

Whaur’s me Sunday Mirror, bonny lad? The series probably inspired a well known advert for Tudor Crisps where a paper boy races around Gateshead on a bike and offers his friend a packet of crisps if he delivers papers to a tower block for him.
