UNTROUBLING UNCTIONS from a MARTI CAINE trying to make everyone forget about her cabaret credentials and instead concentrate on her acting acumen. Failure followed on both fronts, chiefly due to this being a rubbishcom wherein our ditzy heroine struggles to “keep it together” as a rotten researcher for pretend rotten company Eagle Television. Best bit: the pet bird voiced by PERCY EDWARDS.

Marti Caine seemed to have a life like a Play For Today, going from a housewife living a Sheffield housing estate to a household name very quickly, then drifting through various TV vehicles of varying quality before dying way to soon from cancer.
