By David Hopkins. Elderly country dweller Arthur English sends his ill wife to be looked after by his daughter in London. To make room, she sends her son Wayne up to live with him. Mutual incomprehension and distrust are broken by a shared love of carpentry and snooker.

I remember this play well. Keith “ Stig Of The Dump”Jayne played yobbish teen tyke Wayne. His character introduced a new playground insult to me and my school friends with the term “Grunter, meaning any cranky old person.
