British soldier Anthony Steel falls for the daughter of Bedouin sheikh Andre Morell in this Rank potboiler with Donalds Sinden and Pleasence. Directed by Bryan Forbes, and surprisingly free of his infamous nepotistic casting, until you note the Italian actress who plays said daughter was dubbed over with the slightly clearer English vowels of – yes – Nanette Newman, and an elaborate director’s cameo was shot, but snipped out at the last minute. And if Emma had been around in those days, you can bet he’d’ve shoehorned her in somewhere, too…
