Prime Cut

Gene Hackman abuses teenage girls and makes them into sausages. Lee Marvin goes off to sort him out. Bob Wilson and David Savage are among the cast. It’s a load of cobblers. Any or all of these statements may be true.

Well, I like it. It’s engagingly unusual, at least, and pretty violent for its day. And there’s an early appearance by Sissy “dirty pillows” Spacek.

ins’t GH called Mary Ann in it? Spacek’s nephew Mark recently remade Waterloo Sunset.

For every French Connection, Superman 2, Poseidon, Young Frankenstein, there’s a wealth of undiscovered hackman, admittedly most of it the sort of video shop astuff rented only by Hackman-mad dads who were invariably disppointed by the ponderous nature of- Under Fire, Eureka, Target, Hoosiers, No Way Out, Twice in a Lifetime, Misunderstood (with June Brown and Nadim Sawalha in prominent roles!), and then typical time-wasting adventures like Domino Principle, March or Die, Bite the Bullet (which adds Corman – and Candice Bergen, having the same overlong but sometimes engrossing feel of another stretched historical romp with Bergen, The Wind and the Lion). Target’s quite fun though, got some fun action, with Matt Dillon. Has a tuk-tuk chase.
