Haunted Honeymoon

Gene Wilder’s a one for doing dodgy sub-Mel Brooks pastiche comedies. We had Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother, and now this affectionate, if none too funny, homage to the likes of Abbot and Costello Meet the Mummy, with Gilda ‘Jewess jeans’ Radner, a dragged-up Dom DeLuise, a post-Brazil double bill of Jonathan Pryce and Peter Vaughan, and the welcome return of William ‘Porkins’ Hootkins.

Notorious for being absolutely bloody awful, when in all seriousness, it really isn’t. It was never going to change the world, but it’s easy-going enough. And Peter ‘Grouty’ Vaughan and Ann ‘Mrs Hall’ Way are in there as well.
