The film sort-of launders the original play’s anti-semitism, but it doesn’t make it any less twee and annoying. You get the feeling that if Spencer Tracy were still around, Hepburn wouldn’t have gone within a mile of this project, fearing his withering contempt (theirs was NOT a healthy relationship_.
