Star Cops

IN TRUTH the only thing worth saluting about this jumped-up jumpsuitery were the commendably non-unrealistic visual effects and models of Sir MAT IRVINE. Rest of the intergalatic detective capers were barely a notch about CAPTAIN ZEP.

Did whoever wrote this actually watch this show? This show was a gem never given a chance by BBC out of love with Sci-fi.

It was created & mostly written by Chris Boucher who had written for Dr Who & had script edited Blake’s 7.

Part of the problem with the show was it originally planned to be a radio show, and the producer not getting on with Boucher, especially having his own ideas on how the show should feel.

Originally the show was commissioned as a replacement for Dr Who, but when that was brought back it seems Star Cops was given the minimum of support by the BBC, losing an episode to a strike & being shown at 8:30pm on BBC2 in the middle of the summer.
