Kate and Ted’s Show

WHAT RICHES lie ahead of us: it’s KATE “WROTE THE THEME FOR SURPRISE SURPRISE” ROBBINS and her brother TED “DIDN’T” ROBBINS, together in their own “show” doing impressions of Sarah Ferguson and Derek Hatton. They said it’d be over Christmas, and unlike the First World War, it was.

Rather like Paul Squire, Kate and Ted Robbins were of that generation of comedians ITV snapped up as they would appeal to their traditional audience wno weren’t quite ready for that alternative rubbish( sic) or, more likely, too bad for the BBC. I can remember Kate Robbins doing a terrible Sarah Ferguson impersonation and singing a bit, and that’s it. Actually she had a top ten hit in 1981 with a song called More Than In Love.

Eventually ITV got a bit more daring with the likes of Bobby Davro, Spitting Image and Hale & Pace.
