Zoom the Dolphin

HMMMM, WELL, yes. Hawaiian dolphin research labs, complete with absent-minded professor and his lil’ daughter, have adventures with headset-enhanced dolphin of title. Mischevious monkey also featured. Filmation effort. Overtaken rapidly by animal welfare attitudes.

You’re not thinking of Zoom the White Dolphin? The barely animated French fever-dream from 1971? With a mynah bird named John Sebastian who could speak both English and Dolphinese? Starring a topless small girl, because it’s French? Apparently broadcast in this country with the original French credits entirely intact save for a title card glued to the beginning because who really gives a fuck? Based on a European advertising mascot for Nestle’s?

A French – Japanese co-production about a decade before that sort of thing became common.

A CGI version has been made in recent years.

I managed to see a bit of the CGI series when on holiday in Rhodes.

The TVs in the hotel had a selection of channels from different countries. Not many in English unless you want to watch the news contentiously, but there was a German music channel with most of the songs in English.
