TV: H is for...

Hunter

NOTHING LIKE the above by dint of boasting a) far more money and b) far less bafflement. Yes, it’s the bog standard (the operative word there being “yes”) Tough Dirty Harry Cop Partners Female Cop routine. Cue Rick Hunter and ex-Vice Entrapment officer Dee Dee McCall: a warm hand on her entrance, please! . Every week the crime would be solved by running around shooting a large automatic pistol. FRED DRYER was ver Hunter (ex-US Football player), STEFANIE KRAMER the equally badly spelt Dee Dee McCall. “Works for me” was the catchphrase.

Created by Frank “A-Team” Lupo, and notable for the extended Stephen J “Typewriter” Cannell logo at the end, it jumped around the scedules on the regions before being snatched up by Sky and getting a decent run for the couple of hundred thousand people who actually had Sky at the time. One season did find its way onto STV in the mid 90s, I’d loive to see more, but the chances of a DVD release over here are about as likely as a Complete Pages From Ceefax 1983 box set.
