A spinoff of the Red Hand Gang, but weirdly in the US, far better-remembered than its parent. Produced by Paramount by their former B-western mogul, A.C. Lyles for NBC primetime, while Red Hand was NBC saturday morning, so it had a larger budget. Guest stars included Scott Baio, RUe McClanahan, Roddy McDowall, Gene Rayburn (the American Wogan/Les Dawson, host of Match Game) , Jack Elam, Tom Bosley, ROsanna Arquette, JOhn Amos, Willis off Diff’rent Strokes, MIchael J. Fox, Jonathan Frakes, Doris Roberts…
APparently, it only became a spinoff because the original title was Here’s Johnny after the name of the dog who played Boomer in both RHG and Here’s Boomer, but because of its connotations with the Tonight Show, was switched to the name it had been called in its previous job, which handily was also an NBC show, so the network didn’t need to care about legal requirements.
