Crooked Man is an old English rhyme, i.e. it’s where Agatha Christie’s Crooked House comes from, but it’s that American thing of thinking old British folk stories still have resonance.

he Warrens are credited as advisors on Amityville 2, and the leads in Amityville 3-d I think are based on them.

The far-too-big rooms is something Hollywood always get wrong. E.g. the Rathbone Sherlocks, with the huge corridors in 221B.
