JEFFRIES, Lionel

jeffriesAs nominated by Mike Davis: ‘So good as the forerunner of Mr Mackay from Porridge as “CPO Crouty” in the Peter Sellers comedy “Two Way Stretch” . Hard as nails to the prisoners and then cow towing to the Guvnor. Also of course a point or two for his POSH performance in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang “. On the other side of the camera we come to “The Railway Children” …enough said!’

FINEST HOUR: Port out, starboard home… well, why not? If we’re including directorial triumphs, The Amazing Mr Blunden never fails to beguile during a wet bank holiday afternoon.
