GREEN, Nigel

green‘The formidable South African bear’ as the tragically premature obituaries would have it, Nigel Green towered over Michael Caine in The Ipcress File, Peter O’Toole in The Ruling Class, and Rock Hudson in Tobruk, to name but three. He also essayed the inevitable line in not-so-nice SA dwellers, and, more agreeably, faced down Christopher Lee’s Fu Manchu in the ’60s.

FINEST HOUR: Very possibly the dodgiest and least trustworthy of the assembled dodgy untrustworthies in maddeningly convoluted spy caper The Kremlin Letter.
