Films: P is for...

Pulse

Ah, the killer electricity film. Clearly going after the Poltergeist ‘PG horror’ ticket, a lil’ boy and his single dad come up against intelligent, evil currents running through their wires, activating circular saws, arsing about with the heating and telly, and, somehow, killing off the grass. It’s ‘efficiently made’, ‘taut’, and other phrases of grudging praise more at home being applied to stackable seating solutions than original entertainments. One of those films that’s good for what it is, though what it is is not good at all, if you see what we mean. And if you do, perhaps you could explain it to us, along with this film’s none-more-perfunctory ending.
