My father did that. Almost every Sunday when we were trying to listen to the top 40, he would be draped in eye-watering colours of woolen bits (mum was so good she didn’t need the tracing paper stuff), and therefore mucking up out post-bathtime relaxation to Radio 1’s finest.
Yes dad, I’m looking at you.

I think my Dad might have done this at one point, my Mun still does a fair bit of sowing & often lots of the lounge floor is covered with pattens & material.
I’ve seen at least 1 newspaper cartoon with a similar thing happening.
