The next square to cross off your Puzzle Trail map comes courtesy of the That’s Life team, pictured here earlier today in the TV Cream Towers executive lobby.
It seems the team have been investigating a substance that is highly toxic and dangerously unstable, and of which approximately 260,000 tons are manufactured annually.
After discounting the Daily Mail editorial page, the contents of Conservative Central Office, and Esther Rantzen’s after-dinner speeches*, the team realised they ought in fact to be concentrating on a precursor to polymerisation catalysts and pharmaceuticals.
That’s right: it turned out the clue to today’s Puzzle Trail square was hydrazine.
More specifically, the second half of it. Well, it’s about time these clues stuck to a formula.
But turning now from compounds to composts, in particular the pile of manure a Mrs Shanks discovered on her doorstep last Tuesday morning…[fade to merciful silence]
