Do It!

Early 1980s on ITV

VERY EAGER “Hey! Let’s make stuff!” bazaar for holiday mornings, presented by tomboyish SHEELAGH GILBEY, supposed “Editor” of the “Do It supplement” to some fictional rag or other. Featured the great Professor Stanley Unwin on more than one occasion.

TV CREAM SAYS: HAD ITS OWN "RAP". HMM.

I remember sending away for the Do It info pack, and being disappointed to receive a crappy 32 page magazine about 2 months later. I kept the envelope for longer than the magazine because it had a TVS stamp on the front. So I put it with my Thames envelope that housed my complimentary reply from Splash

  2. I remember picking up one of the magazines at B&Q one time & keeping it for years.

It might still be in my collection of Beanos at my parents house.

I loved the opening credits with that amazing machine that could type letters, prepare and cook lunch and print newspapers, all opperated by an old shoe and other household odds and ends!

The best thing I remember seeing on Do it was a recipe for a “Hand Sandwich”, a ham sandwich with lots of ketchup for “blood” cut into the shape of a hand! I actually made these for my family one day and it scared my little sister brilliantly.
