David Cassidy – Man Undercover

YES, YOU read that right. A PARTRIDGE FAMILY spinoff with little Daveyboy infiltrating a US college drug ring. Lasted just four shows, surprising given the inherant flaw in notion of being David Cassidy “undercover”.

There were actually 10 episodes made, but I guess Granada/HTV bailed before running all of them. It must have been awful if ITV couldn’t run all 10 even in the 11.30pm slot… (I assume it was Granada/HTV given this was TVC’s home patch – I have no idea if Thames showed it).

NBC doomed the show in the US from birth, by placing it on Thursday nights at 10pm.

That put Man Undercover against Aaron Spelling drama Family on ABC, and the Buddy Ebsen drama series Barnaby Jones on CBS.

Unfortunately for David Cassidy, those 2 shows were well established compared to Man Undercover, and not even his star power was enough to get viewers away from those shows.
