Just back from the Sky One launch forĀ 24, series five. It’s a shame the way the show just kind of fell out of the spotlight when it moved to satellite, as it remains fantastically entertaining viewing. As far as the extras who stood by knew, the President would collapse, then recover, get back in the car and drive off. So they would have been somewhat surprised when they watched the actual episode on television as Palmer lay on the ground gasping for breath, his heartbeat ticking out the final moments of this season of 24. Whilst the return of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet has confounded all expectations by being well acted, well produced (apart from some dodgy “high wire” special effects in the most recent episode), true to the characters, but ultimately listless and dull, immediately after on BBC2 comes the dramatic highlight of the TV week.
