I really do not think you have watched this seminal adaptation of Alan Garner’s modern classic properly. In the first place, nobody turns into an eagle, and in the second place, it doesn’t end with all the events being all a dream. You ought to read the book and you will become aware of the subtleties of the nature of Alison’s possession, and the emotional impact it has on the other characters. For my money, it is the first mature children’s drama. It set the standard for TV shows of that genre that are made today. It probably influenced Steven Moffat’s TV writing.
