LONGSTANDING regular engagement for those two men posing as elderly female academics, first off in Radio 4’s Joyce Grenfell Lawsuit-inviting music hall-esque revue The Enchanting World Of Hinge & Bracket, then over to Radio 2 for sitcom The Random Jottings Of Hinge & Bracket, then finally back to their audio alma mater for the sadly overlooked chat show At Home With Hinge & Bracket. Whether or not they dragged up for radio is sadly not known.

Nice to see your mention of our Dear Ladies on your site, however someone feels they were an “Unnatural act”, all i can say is “Each to their Own”
Everyone has their own taste.
We love them.

Of course, it does take a modicum of intelligence to recognise true genius!

Nice little summary of Hinge and Bracket there ;0)
In answer to the first post question
could the correct answer be your conception?

Whatever happened to Hinge and Bracket as they seemed to be all the rage in the early eighties and then vanished? You couldn’t really pigeonhole as drag acts had long been popular( although not on the radio) and yet they weren’t on the alternative comedy hit list due to being some niche act on BBC Two and the radio on Sunday lunchtimes.

Patrick passed away, George retired. They were very good at what they did, I used to watch Dear Ladies when I was a kid, but not get any of the jokes. They had a strange captivation about them. And those high notes!
