Radio 2: The Shows

Round Midnight

Brian Matthew, immediately prior to rumination on Dennis Potter and the rise of the 'Graphic Novel'BRIAN MATTHEW-helmed attempt at doing a radio version of those hazy late-night highbrow arts review TV shows, which basically involved him chatting to someone involved with a broadsheet-bigged-up exhibition and then getting a Rory McGrath level comic in to read out a list of ‘funnies’ they’d written down on an A4 sheet.

The theme tune to this was an instrumental of Cat Stevens’ Matthew and Son, very clever, very funny, very – here, wait a minute, who was the “son” supposed to be in this show?

    Hi Brian

I hope you can help me. I am trying to identify the actual track that was used as the signature tune of your program Round Midnight. I remember fondly listening to you shows and waiting for the last slow beat of the track to finish before falling asleep.

    Thanks Brian!!

    Best regards
    Steve

Steve, as none of us at TV Cream is actually Brian Matthew, you might be better off directing your query at the BBC. You can send the show a message at…
