    He was certainly an Airhead fan, Lobbied for the re-issue of Funny How and everything.

    Totally forgotten he was ever on Radio 1, even though I actually saw him on the Radio 1 Roadshow in Bude in 1991ish. Most pronounced memory of that: seeing the odd truck dotted around still displaying the old stripey logo even as the stage and T-shirts and everything were emblazoned with the newfangled “graffiti” effort. Such a cool kid, I was.

    Covered breakfast quite a few times when Mayo was off. A safe pair of hands and his Sunday afternoon show was a decent listen. I remember on his Thursday night programme he once played in full one of the 1987 package image song jingles following a request from a listener. He commented afterwards he didn’t like it as it sounded “too cheesy”.
