Like 99{30e2395aaf6397fd02d2c79d91a1fe7cbb73158454674890018aee9c53a0cb96} of those who tuned in to the Channel 5 launch, I tuned out after the Spice Girls had completed their trademark moneygrabbing shill. They had some interesting films, mostly stuff nobody else in their right minds would show, and it did bring the hilarious Night Stand to my attention (buried away at 4 in the morning of course), but it was never essential viewing even before they became the nation’s premier channel for ripping off everyone else’s hits. OK, Just for Laughs with Lee and Herring was worth a look, sandwiches and all.

David Sullivan?! Mind you, he’s never threatened to bomb anybody.

I remember Xena: Warrior Princess was an early hit for C5, in the early days they had some oddball imports like Channel 4 did in the 1980s.
