Great commentary. This is one of the films that had a resurgence in popularity once it was broadcast on television – late 1990/Christmas 1990 for this one I think. See also the far more populist resurgence of ‘Dirty Dancing’ (in fact affirmation as no-one I know saw it in the cinema at the time) in 1990. That one even brought ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’ back into the charts.

One might also argue that the inclusion of ‘People Are Strange’ on the soundtrack plus ‘TLB’s soundtrack’s massive popularity. led to the brief rebirth of ‘The Doors’ fandom prior to and during the Oliver Stone movie.
