WARNER, David

warnerHe’s not always a screen villain, as he’d be at pains to remind you, but when he is, he’s a fantastic one nonetheless. Able to run the gamut of bad lads – from louche dropout in Work is a Four-Letter Word through aristocratic heist arranger in Perfect Friday, speccy revolutionary in Little Malcolm and his Struggle Against the Eunuchs, right up to Jack the Ripper in Time After Time and your actual Evil Genius in Time Bandits. He’s not particularly evil in The Omen, mind, just a bit loopy.

FINEST HOUR: And the same can be said for the schizophrenic anti-hero of Morgan: a Suitable Case for Treatment, a tour-de-force of nihilist bile-spitting in a baggy Aran sweater.
