LEE, Christopher

leeWe’ll have to watch what we say here. Does he still hate people banging on about Dracula or not? We don’t remember. Anyway, no need to let such autumnal cantankerousness blot such a singular career. The horror end of affairs speaks for itself (well, except perhaps Meatcleaver Massacre) but there’s also his civilian sideline in sinisterly superior types: Mycroft Holmes, Captain Rochefort, Scaramanga et al.

FINEST HOUR: We’ll play it safe and plump for Lord Summerisle. If that’s OK with you of course, Chris.

Along with Lord Summerisle he loved to mention his role as a gay biker in Serial, a film everyone but him forgot about. He was so prolific it’s difficult to pick favourites, but Horror Express was perfect staying up too late viewing for kids in the 70s and 80s. RIP great man.

RIP, Christopher Lee, an absolute giant, a man whose life would make a really good miniseries, from his days in military intelligence to becoming a heavy metal star in his late eighties. Not many people can say they’ve done what he’s done.
