Dreamchild

Largely forgotten (and buried on release) Dennis Potter imagining of a journey to ’30s New York by an ageing Alice Hargreaves, real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll (Ian Holm), intercut with childhood flashbacks and Jim Henson-assisted book dramatisations. Far from watertight but unmatchably bizarre, featuring Jane Asher and William ‘Porkins’ Hootkins, and, voicing the Wonderland creatures, Ken Campbell, Fulton Mackay, Alan Bennett, Julie Walters, Tony ‘Kinvig’ Haygarth and Frank ‘Master of Bailey College’ Middlemass.
