La-la-la-la-la! Now, alas, despite national appeals, we couldn’t get the full Look-in run right up to 1993 of Christmas covers. But nonetheless…

Who’s that wacky, jolly funster on the 1985 cover, brimming with bright Christmas cheer? It’s Timmy Mallet, isn’t it? No? Nik Kershaw, of course!

Look In always s seemed to have better covers than the TV Times. The 1978 cover, which sort of mimicked the TV Times cover in art form, would have been good enough for its adult counterpart. Also looks like this year the pop features have become a bit more cutting edge( 1972 and The New Seekers, hardly a kids band) with an interview and poster of Kate Bush, then the most talked about and innovative female in pop.

Having another look at these covers and proving Look In was quite cutting edge at times, the 1977 Christmas edition has a feature on The Jam, then a very new band who would go on to be massive two years later. Had this been a BBC publication aimed at under 14s, then it would probably have been something very safe like The Brotherhood of Man.
