Foregone conclusion! It’s…

TV Cream’s Most Unforgettable Theme!

Yes, Dr Who is going to win this. It can’t not. But let’s try for a little bit of fun anyway (not in the least, we’ll hopefully prompt someone to comment below it’s ‘Doctor’) with this quantel-compiled quartet of brilliant themes. And they really are. We don’t think even Ian ‘No Relation’ Jones will be grumbling about this selection: Blake’s 7 vs Dr Who vs Hitchhiker’s vs The Tomorrow People. And don’t they all have smashing logos too?

I’d like to go with ‘wooo-ooooooooooo!’ too, but I just adore the Hitchhiker’s theme.

Whither the theme music to UFO? But aside from that it’s Hitchhiker’s all the way.

Isn’t the Hitchhiker’s theme actually an instrumental by The Eagles?

My vote is for the Radiophonic Workshop and the Doc….

A glaring omission is Barry Gray’s theme for the first series of the mighty Space 1999…

Dr.Who was the best with it’s whooshes echoes ghostly spangles, weird two tone melodyline of high pitched melodica/test-tone combination and nice little melodyline loop-to-fade at the end.

The Dr. Who theme was and still is one of the best themes up to the point (late 80s) where they began fiddling with it too much. The various interpretations are not too bad but not a patch on the late Pertwee/early Baker version.
