TV Cream

A bit of business

Off The Telly and onto the bookshelf

Coo, we never thought we'd be bringing that logo back for anything

Who remembers www.offthetelly.co.uk? For 10 years it was TVC’s sombre sister site, publishing monthly essays about the big wide world of British television. The site closed down in January 2010, but now it’s back… in self-published book form (natch): Off The Telly: The Best Bits of the British TV Website, 1999-2009.

Designed and compiled by our good friend Mark Jones from the superb Broken TV website (and you can read him making his pledge to do just that here), the book collects together – well – all the best bits from OTT, clocking in at over 300,000 words and 678 pages. It’s priced £16.99 and available to buy here. Any profits will go to Alzheimer’s charities in the UK.

Naturally, though, TV Cream has a copy to giveaway. How to win? Simply email us as admin@tvcreamtest.co.uk with the answer to this question…

Who, in 2003, told OTT this: “By this time The Golden Shot was hiring comedians to go on and try and liven it up. I think I tell the story in my autobiography of how my agent said ‘I want you to do it’ to which I replied ‘I don’t want to do it’ but he insisted: ‘You go out there and murder them’. So I planned for a week to do the best possible slot that I could, and it went tremendously well.”

Your answer, please, by Friday June 3.

And now, a few pages from inside the book. Click on each to expand…

I know this is very ‘un-TV Cream era’esque, but will this be available as an eBook?
