UBER-RUDIMENTARY INFORMATHON dressed up as the adventures of a medallion-toting bear. Titular grizzly was conjured up from the minds of Patrick and Mollie Matthews in 1962, who turned him into a household name courtesy of these couldn’t-happen-now visual presentations comprising, well, a series of still photographs backed by you-must-find-this-interesting narration. A long way from the ideal bedtime story. A long way from bedtime as well.

Got to mention that the narrator was plummy voiced Richard ‘Here Is The News’ Baker. The show was on early Saturday morning, pre-Swap-Shop, I think.

Get on! I liked Teddy Edward. And yes, i found the narration both informative and entertaining. I thank you.

The theme tune was called ‘Glad Gadabout’.

There’s a tiny clip on YT, and that theme tune (played on an ocarina?) brought it all flooding back. As a TV show, like watching politely as a work colleague flips through their holiday snaps. If he was a teddy bear.

Johnny Vaughan @RadioX recycles the theme music as a musical bed for “What we learnt” at the end of his show every day. I’m pretty sure he’s a cream-era fan as he also reuses the theme from ATV’s Star Soccer for his kickabout show too at the weekend.
