Pacman’s Adventures in Pac Land

EARLY ATTEMPT at computer game crossover that should have ensured it never happened again. Yellow blob with big fat gob ate those sodding ghosts (Blinky, stinky, wanky and fucky, or something) who then turned into arguing floating eyeballs. Faithful to the original, at least…

Everything was “pac” this and “pac” that. It must have had left a lasting impression on my mates and I as we referred to dogshits as “pac-mice” well into comprehensive school (1984-1989).

I actually bunked off school to watch one of these bloody things. I hate myself.

I’ve been scouting around Youtube – and apparently Pac-Man was one of the best of the game-spinoff cartoons.

The American kids had LOADS of these… basically any and all of the Golden Age videogames had a cartoon made off it.. and most of them were even worse than Pac-man…

Some of the worst premises – Rubik The Amazing Cube (I am not making this up), Q-Bert, Frogger…

I’ve just had a look and you’re right, there’s loads of dodgy cartoon spin-offs, Donkey Kong as well! It must have taken a keen mind to script both Pac-Man and Q-Bert and not make them exactly the same.

A Brit effort could have been Everyone’s a Wally. Mike Berry had a theme tune ready to go (also on YouTube if you’re curious).

I just remembered that there was a cartoon series based on Pitfall as well.
