Get Set Go!

EARLY RUN-OUT for your blueprint Barrymore, wherein our host chaperoned three upmarket couples in colour co-ordinated jumpsuits (this was the ’80s) through half an hour of sub-KRYPTON FACTOR physical and mental tasks. In retrospect 3-2-1 was nearer the mark. Prizes were an Innovations catalogue-take on usual BBC parsimony, i.e. pink neon “American diner”-style clocks.

This summary written by someone who did not see the show. As a contestant in the show, I can confirm there were no physical challenges apart from changing seats every few seconds. It was copied from a US show. Can confirm the prizes were breathtakingly cheap. As a member of a winning team, I took home an electric toothbrush and a £60 record token.

I agree Mike, I too was a contestant on that show, and as a member of a losing team I am in awe of your breathtaking prizes. I won a slow cooker. With regard to the physical task – there were none. And as for the colour coordinated jumpsuits – that didn’t happen either. I was actually told to change the t shirt I was wearing at the time as it was ‘too bright’
