RIP Michael Angelis, this was his finest role as Chrissy, who flips due to the frustration of being out of work, spends his giro on getting mortal drunk and then killing his kids pet rabbits( a nod to his other well known role from the seventies). Blackstuff was a fine series with both comic and serious interludes and the BBC should give the episode about Chrissy a repeat showing.

If anyone wants to know what ‘Thatcherism’ really meant instead of seeing it through a fuzzy haze of nostalgia, watch this. A generation of people who just wanted to work and support their families – and their communities – being destroyed for a political dogma.
