Iv’e been trying for a long time to ttrack down a copy of Katie: It seems impossible. Does anyone know whether it has been wiped or shcelved? otherwise any ideas of how to track down a copy?

An RTE coproduction, with a who’s who of Irish talent of the era (Donal McCann, Johnny ‘Joey the Lips’ Murphy, Tom ‘Benji Riordan’ Hickey in a surprisingly small part considering he was the star of RTE’s top drama, Anna ‘Mrs. O’Brien’ Manahan) and music by the Fureys. Bleak but incredibly evocative portrayal of 70s Ireland. From the murderer’s row of Irish talent to the sympathetic but miserable-enough-to-give-Frank McCourt-a-stiffie portrayal of travellers, to time capsule shots of Ranelagh and Dublin (the Film Centre!), it shows that even at this time, the BBC were making better stories about Ireland than Telly Eireann. Except that this seems to have been an RTE copro, shown as part of their Thursday Playdate.
