DOUGLAS ADAMS and conservationy pal Mark Cawardine set off on a globe-straddling shorts-ahoy Attenborough-aping animal odyssey in search of such endangered freaks of nature as The Aye-Aye and The Kakapo, while former Voice Of The Book Peter Jones handles the narration in bizarre metatextual talking-about-something-real-as-though-it-was-something-fictional-being-talked-about-as-if-it-was-real gambit. Recently given a twentieth anniversary TV update by Cawardine in cahoots with Stephen Fry, who manfully looked after Adams’ David Gilmour solo LPs while the original quest was in progress.
