EARNEST DIMINUTIVE bearded rock-centric early seventies mainstay, before departing for Capital and subsequent Channel Four American Football presentation gig. After appearing on the awful, awful, awful Channel Four ‘quality music’ show Rock Steady, resumed overnight duties briefly in early nineties, along with Bank Holiday specials Barbed Wireless, wherein listeners had to make humorous connections between different records.

Ah, no, Barbed Wireless was a Triple Tracker/Cheesily-presaging “songs for someone in the news/public eye” venture. Fond memories of him suggesting David Mellor just post-Antonia De Sancha and getting as far as “X-Ray Spex, Oh Bondage… hang on, I can’t read that out”.

I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a picture of Nicky Horne.

I remember the series Rock Steady! Did he co-present it with someone else – I can recall the other guy having a go at Phil Collins every time the Album Chart rundown was on.

If you’ve got DAB radio, you can hear Nicky on Planet Rock, weekday evenings, 6pm.
Recommended.

Barbara, Rock Steady had another presenter called Dave Fanning.
