    Revenge of the Nerds had been a pretty successful film in 1984. The writers said they took the word “nerd” from a brand of candy that had just been on the market a few months before (you could get them in the UK too, eventually).

    Wonderwall: which is more likely, Noel Gallagher seeing the obscure 1960s psychedelic movie, or watching Clive every Saturday? Hmm…

    Who was Angela Rippon screaming with laughter at?

    Sinclair C5 jokes in 1989 were more common than you think: it was mentioned in a series 6 episode of Only Fools and Horses (‘Little Problems’).
