50 Great Things About Coronation Street

TV Cream’s 50 Great Things About Coronation Street Podcast – Episode 5

Barbara Knox-ing on Heaven's door, there

Well if that isn’t just the last straw! Here I am: me Rita Sullivan… oh alright – Rita Fairclough as most of you will know me, and I’m pinned to the ground in The Kabin as part of Coronation Street’s 50th anniversary storyline. No it’s not Schmeichel that’s stuck on top of me, getting over amorous, although chance would be a fine thing. It’s that exciting tram disaster we had on Weatherfield just before Christmas. I was buried under a viaduct’s worth of rubble. The kind of raw material, I shouldn’t wonder, that my late hubbie Len might have been able to put to good use, had he not been boffing some fancy piece up the M62.

But now, what am I saying? Here’s a chance for you to put your lug ‘oles to good use, as it’s the last – the very last and that’s a promise – of TV Cream’s 50 Great Things About Coronation Street Podcast. I have to say I’ve listened to every one of them, and I barely get a mention – there’s nowt accounting for taste. But what you do get is a last load of 10 great things about the soap you all know and love.

So what’s the to do? Too concerned about when another tram might crop up and radically change the direction of my life?

The lads at TV Cream have asked me to pass on my best wishes and let you know they’ve had a lot of fun down Weatherfield way – although not that kind of fun. Hang on! Maybe that explains the smile on Emily’s face when she came into the shop t’other day…

The final episode in this quality quintet only underlines its greatness, shames lesser audio documentaries and adhoc, under-thought podcasts and justifies Corrie’s pivotal place in the Cream firmament.
    Award worthy.

Absolutely brilliant. I loved every one of these unreservedly.

Now where can I get my hands on Sally Whittaker doing Never Can Say Goodbye?
