Creamguide (Films) Commentaries: The Devil Rides Out

Creamguide (Films) is back for Halloween with a triple bill of films hand-picked by Craig and Chris to put the right shiters up you.  Find out which recent blockbuster Jack gave an 8.5/10 to, but Chris only gave a 7.5. Revel in the discussion of foodstuff that you bought when you first moved out of the parental home – just because you could and relax into Craig’s lugubrious and largely correct opinionating related to the horror genre and some things Hammer.

Yay. My mum for years gthought it was Vincent Price not Lee as the Duc.
I watched To The Devil A Daughter constantly as a fifteen year old,

    1. Rex, Leon Greene is in Flash Gordon, and quite a few Carry Ons. He’s dubbed by Patrick Allen, cos they thought he was Australian, mainly cos he looked like Ray Barrett and Rod Taylor.
    2. It is Dame Gwen Francgcon Davies, and googly-eyes in Laurel and Hardy was Jimmy Finlayson.
    3. Craig is thinking of Ivor Emannuel, in Zulu.
    4. It’s Loretta Swit not Brenda Vaccaro, and Lara Parker (the witch Angelique in TV’s Dark Shadows).
    5. You can get Ski Yogurt and Ski Mousse in Poundland. It’s lovely.
    6. The only person ever contracted to Hammer was Caroline Munro. Lee was a Wheatley fan, and really wanted to play the role, even though he was too young for the character. For years, he wanted to remake it. The troubled productions Hammer did were rare. The main one was Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb, where Cushing dropped out due to his wife’s illness, and then director Seth Holt died.
    7. Warner was 81 at the end of Dixon. Sadly, those Night Ins, the Lucas and Walliams one is unbroadcastable, cos it has Harris and Savile in it.
    8. They appeared in two projects together. http://www.imdb.com/search/title?roles=nm0931054,nm0000489&title_type=feature,tv_episode,video,tv_movie,tv_special,mini_series,documentary,game,short
    9. South Seas Hijack with John Bluthal, Jack Thompson, Roger Ward, directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith.
    10. Mower is still in Emmerdale.

I watched To The Devil A Daughter constantly as a fifteen year old, but now would be quite guilty watching “that scene”. And the Animal from the Muppet Babies-alike Astaroth at the end is laughable.
