Mid-period mad scientist slapstick of Sellers vs. Lom – stand by to tick off Lesley-Anne Down, Burt Kwouk, Leonard Rossiter, Richard ‘Slartibartfast’ Vernon, Geoffrey ‘Catweazle’ Bayldon, Graham Stark, Gordon Rawlings, Omar Sharif, Dudley ‘CFF’ Sutton, a very young Chris Langham, and that’s Mrs. Director Julie Andrews overdubbing Michael ‘On The Buses’ Robbins.

This was shown in a double bill with The Spy Who Loved Me by some British cinemas – which is a cracking combination. Double bills were dying out when I began going to the pictures, but I did see Star Wars and The Empire Strikes back in one marathon sitting, and Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile ditto – that was a long evening! Does anyone else have any other examples?

I saw The Pink Panther Strikes Again on a double bill with The Revenge of the Pink Panther, which was a fantastic double bill, topped only by seeing Airplane! and Airplane II – The Sequel as a twofer a couple of years later.
