Pale Rider

We quite like this poorly received update of the whole Shane thing. Firstly it’s got Crint ‘Clint’ Eastwood in it and not Alan ‘TINY’S PATIO NOW OPEN FOR JERKBURGERS AND GRITS! (Teas 20p)’ Ladd and secondly it’s also got Michael Moriarty, who we hoped would have taken some time to try and talk Eastwood into doing a big budget remake of Q: The Winged Serpent.

Just watched this on Blu-ray. Excellent film with the legend that is Clint Eastwood. Covers many themes and looks great.

What do you mean poorly released? This is a highly acclaimed movie and always has been. Largely because it’s good.

I mostly remember the TV spots to advertise this had the Channel 4 News theme on their soundtrack. Not heard on the film itself, alas, and doubtless a bit of library music. Sort of like the Grange Hill/Give Us a Clue controversy.

Same composer, even: Alan Hawkshaw. The Channel Four Rider theme is called “Best Endeavours”.
