Nothing But The Best

While TW3 ruled the airwaves, Frederic Raphael wrote this nifty cross between Room at the Top (1959) and My Fair Lady (1964). Alan Bates is an ambitious young estate agent thwarted in his social climbing plans by the snobbishness of his bosses, until a grudgeful Denholm Elliot takes his under his wing and coaches him to walk, talk and think like a member of the ruling class. TW3 stars took part: Millicent Martin is the girl bates woos with deception after deception, and Willie Rushton is a Christmas-camp art dealer fretting over the hipness of Rembrandt.
