The splendid Ronald Neame – of Poseidon Adventure, The Card and The Million Pound Note, amongst many others, fame – was responsible for this disaster tosh which is most memorable for its cast of millions including Seen ‘Sean Connery’ Canary, Karl ‘V’ Malden, Brian ‘Teddy’ Keith, Martin ‘1999’ Landau, Trevor ‘Rawlinson’ Howard, and Henry Ponda at the top but, rather more interestingly, Simon Cadell as a BBC reporter and Neame himself sitting around in the UN a lot further down.

One good thing about this is Sir Sean’s delivery of the line “If you think you can protect yourself by burying your head under a blanket of shit, you’re wrong!” Usually got cut out of afternoon broadcasts, more’s the pity.
